In Rome, Gilles Thomas jumped to another top ranking in the 5* GP of the Longines Global Champions Tour with the nine-year-old Qualista DN. They finished in a very respectable second place behind Harry Smolders and Monaco. After victories in Paris and New York, this second place means that Gilles Thomas is the overall winner of the Global Champions Tour competition in 2025 with two rounds to go. This makes him not only the youngest overall winner ever, but also the first rider to achieve overall victory with two rounds to go. Harrie Smolders moves up to second place with 214 points. Olympic champion Christian Kukuk is in third place with 208 points. The final rounds are in Rabat and Riyadh.
