Gilles Thomas looks forward to Jumping Mechelen
Gilles: "Luna jumps the World Cup, Ermitage Kalone jumps in the Sires and the 5* GP"
Six more days of countdown and then Jumping Mechelen will start. The equestrian Christmas party for every (Belgian) equestrian sports fan / rider. It is no different with Gilles Thomas who plays a 'home match' in the Nekkerhal in Mechelen.
Gilles is already in action on the first day. In the New Year Arena, he will try to win the KBC Dream Team-Cup in the afternoon together with the LRV pony riders. The ideal warm-up to get fully into the Jumping Mechelen atmosphere. Then the more serious work will start in the Christmas Arena with the Belgian Indoor Championships.
"For the Belgian Indoor Championship, I am counting on Elfra Van Beek Z. Feromas van Beek Z will jump in the Sires, as will Ermitage Kalone. Ermitage will also jump the 5* GP. For the World Cup class, I am counting on Luna van het Dennehof. The 5* GP on Friday evening and the World Cup class on Saturday afternoon will be the two most important tests in Mechelen," says Gilles, who gives us an insight into his busy programme during Jumping Mechelen.
To get in the mood for Jumping Mechelen, you can watch a documentary about Jumping Mechelen made by Ruben Van Gucht on Saturday 23/12, after the cyclo-cross, around 16.30 on Sporza (VRT1), in which Gilles is followed, as are a number of fellow riders.
