CSIO3* Lier – Victory in the Nations Cup with Riesling van ’t Roosakker and second place in the Grand Prix with Happy Landais
Before Gilles Thomas heads to Madrid this week for the GCT/CGL on Spanish soil, he was in action close to home at the CSIO3* in Lier last weekend.
On Friday evening, Gilles and Riesling van ’t Roosakker were part of the Belgian team that rode to victory with a clear round, ahead of the English and French teams. Also in the winning Belgian team were: Jeroen Appelen (C.J Schotanus), Koen Vereecke (Quinoa de la Liniere) and Frederik Vernaet (Orak D’ Hamwijk).
Happy Landais jumped to second place in Sunday’s 1.50m-high 3*GP, which was won by William Whitaker. Scotch van het Dennehof won the class for seven- and eight-year-old horses. On Saturday, Ermitage Kalone also took part in a 1.50m class to get back into competition rhythm. As usual, he left all the fences untouched.
This week, Chuck Marienshof Z and Qiara De Kalvarie are flying to Madrid. The following week, Aachen is on Gilles’s schedule.
