Young horses show their talent at FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championship

Last week Gilles stayed in Belgium for the FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championship at Zangersheide in Lanaken. After a few weeks away from home mostly showing at 5* shows, it was now time for the young horses to show their talent. In the championship for 7 year old horses he jumped Puskas de Kalvarie and Kivolette van Beek. The 10 year old stallion Feromas Van Beek Z competed in the Sires Of The World competition. For the Belgian Championship, Gilles counted on Luna van het Dennenhof.

Both 7 year old horses jumped clear in the first qualifier and also in the second qualifier they didn't touch a rail. On Sunday it was time for the final, over a height of 1.45m, and with their clear rounds both horses got qualified. It was Kivolette van Beek who impressed the most with a 12th place in this final. The whole week the chestnut mare didn't have a single fence down, but in the final she had a foot in the water, which was penalised with 4 points. Puskas de Kalvarie had one fault in the final and ended up in 19th place. It was a very good week for both youngsters.

In the Sires of the World Feromas van Beek also managed to jump some nice rounds. On Thursday there was the opening class and Gilles decided to ride an easy round which ended up with 3 time penalties. It was on Friday that Feromas really had to show himself and so he did. In this competition with jump-off over a heigth of 1.50m the black stallion stayed clear. In jump-off he also showed he is quite fast and with another clear round, he ended up in 4th place.

In the Belgian Championship luck wasn't really on Gilles and Luna van het Dennenhof's side and they ended on a 20th place in the end.

This week Gilles will be competiting at the Nations Cup Final in Barcelona with team Belgium. Calleryama will jump the Nations Cup Final and Feromas Van Beek Z will jump in the other classes.
