In the seven-year-olds, 12 of the 17 stallions started jumped to the second phase. Eleven combinations stayed clear. For the fastest jump-off, Gilles Thomas took care of the BWP-approved Qannando B&V (Kannan x Emerald van 't Ruytershof). The 'B & V' in his name stands for the breeders Bart Van Poucke & Valentijn De Bock of this Qannando.

Qannando = Teamwork

In the stallion test at Jumping Mechelen, Gilles sat in the black stallion's saddle for the first time. In Lier, Valentijn took over the reins because Gilles was riding in Basel. After two rounds, Qannando is in first place in the ranking, among the seven-year-old stallions.

Valentijn: He has a lot of scope and he is top careful. He also has a super character. He is really a very well-behaved stallion.

Gilles: True (smile) I have not been riding him for very long but I do experience what Valentine says in the saddle. I do sometimes feel that he is still a bit 'green' but he is now turning seven, so now it is really starting.

Valentijn: Qannando is at my place and I ride him during the week, with the necessary tips from Gilles (wink) but if Gilles wants to train with it, I will bring the stallion.  By the way, for the next heat I will have to put my white riding trousers back on Then Gilles will be in Spain with his horses.

Gilles: We'll sit down together soon to look at the rest of his course. Maybe that already includes some international competitions. We'll see how it goes. But it's nice working with Valentine this way.
