A look back at the Brussels Stephex Masters
It was quite a busy week for Gilles Thomas during the Brussels Stephex Masters. Gilles competed no fewer than eleven times with the Nieuwenhof horses. On Wednesday, following a clear round in the basic round with Saladin S, Gilles finished fourteenth in a 1.45m class. On Friday, Luna van het Dennehof jumped to thirteenth place in the 1.50m class. The seven-year-old The Lewis van het Heidehof had one fault on his debut at 1.45m level, which bodes well for the future. It was also a debut for Riesling van ’t Roosakker. The nine-year-old son of Comme il faut jumped his first 5* Grand Prix (1.60m) and showed potential for the future.
Marthe Heudens rode Silver van ’t Keikelhof and Riviera van het Dennehof for Stal Nieuwenhof in Brussels. On the opening day, Riviera took sixth place (1.35m) and Silver van ’t Keikelhof seventh place (1.30m) in the 2* competition. On Friday, the pair rode to victory in a 1.30m class. On Saturday, Riviera jumped to third place in the 1.40m class.
